Children are Priority One—Golf Tournament, held in August

The Wentworth Golf Club generously hosts this annual event, which sells out every year. Teams compete for prizes and enjoy a hearty luncheon. Our members contribute by assisting with prizes, scoring, tee signs, and guiding players on the day of the event. They also help secure local sponsors, including hole sponsors and golf cart sponsors, to ensure the tournament’s success.

Passport Book to Entertainment—spring project starting in May

Book is valid June 1 – May 31

Our primary fundraiser is the Passport Book to Entertainment, benefiting local restaurants, recreational facilities, our club, and those who purchase the book. With two-for-one coupons, book buyers can explore new dining spots, try activities like skiing and golfing, or even enjoy Story Land, all while supporting valley kids. Discount coupons are solicited from 140 sponsors; 800 books sold by members. To view the table of contents, click here.

Each club member is responsible for selling the books, which are always in high demand. They make an excellent gift and are a popular item in the valley. The 2024/5 book is SOLD OUT! You can also order gift certificates for next year’s book as a thoughtful valentine or birthday present! Email bcmallar@gmail.com to get yours today! In 2025 books will be available at TDBank, J-town Deli in Jackson, Bart’s Deli in Bartlett, at the Annual Wildquack Duck Race in Jackson or from any club member.

Photos with Santa—Saturdays in late November though December

The Mount Washington Valley Kiwanis Photos with Santa event takes place in a donated storefront at Settlers Green Saturdays in late November and December. Families, children, pets, and even Divas visiting during Bring a Friend Shopping Weekend are invited to pose with our friendly Santas for festive holiday photos. This cherished tradition brings the community together to celebrate the season while supporting Kiwanis service projects that benefit children and families in the Mount Washington Valley.

Kiwanis Family Fun Day

Although not a fundraiser, we enjoy getting all the sponsored clubs together. The club sponsors this event to provide a day of fun for members and their families and those associated with the various organizations within the larger Kiwanis Family such as the Key Club at the high school level, Builder’s Club at the junior high level, and all the elementary school K-Kids groups. Past Events have included suprise visits from Storyland’s Rory & Humpty Dumpty, mini-golf and a magician! The event starts with food, such as hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, and sweet treats, then we play games like cornhole, ring toss, and bowling.

What Else do we do?

Each Kiwanis year brings new opportunities to serve our community. Some years, we take on projects like painting non-profit buildings such as the North Conway Community Center, North Conway Day Care, Children Unlimited, and the Mother Seton House in Fryeburg. We’ve also renovated the old Starting Point home for resale, allowing the organization to relocate to a better facility.

Every spring and fall, we participate in roadside cleanups along Route 302. Our members have also supported Camp Huckins by setting up bunks and preparing the beach for the summer season. Additionally, we award several camperships each year to help local children enjoy summer camp experiences.
